NOTARIAT IN POLAND

Notaries are associated within the notarial professional organization, which conducts its activity based on the Notaries Law Act. Its organizational units constitute regional notarial chambers and the Polish National Council of Notaries. Membership in the notarial professional structures is mandatory.

NOTARIAL REGISTERS

The Polish National Council of Notaries maintains an ICT system “Notarial Registers” comprising the statistical registers, registers containing data from some of the notarial actions performed, and which allow for an exchange of data contained therein with some external institutions.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

The Polish National Council of Notaries is an active member of the Council of the Notariats of the European Union (CNUE) and of the International Union of Notaries (UINL) as well as maintains close bilateral contacts, notably with the French and German notariats.

The Polish National Council of Notaries is the representative of the notary profession and is composed of notaries elected by general meetings of the regional chambers of notaries for the term of 3 years.

It is within the competence of the National Council of Notaries inter alia to:

adapt the rules of functioning of the notarial offices

render opinions and proposals regarding the notarial fees and the amendment of regulations relating to the functioning of the notarial profession

cooperate with the notariats of other countries

express the position on matters presented by the Minister of Justice or the other bodies of the professional organisation of notaries
